Being a painter as well as a collector, Sam’s style has always been to combine old antique furniture with new fabrics and vivid colours, mainly introduced in paintings, cushions and throws. ‘I have always loved antiques, ’ she says, ‘especially French furniture, and I have been collecting pieces to go with the period of this house even before we moved here.’ The house is bursting with history. In the basement are remains of a tunnel, which was supposed to connect with the cellars of Windsor Castle in years gone by.
